Despite a rain delay and a light drizzle throughout the game, the Rapids poured on eight runs and defeated the Utica Blue Sox by a score of 8-4.

Brenton Phillips went 3-5 with two runs batted in and one run scored for Utica in the loss. Watertown was lead offensively by Michael Russell who continued his hot streak going 3-5 with one run batted in and two scored runs.

The Rapids took the lead from Utica in the fifth inning and never looked back. Quality at-bats and smart base running allowed the Rapids to take advantage of some mistakes by the Blue Sox.

Alex Mumme singled in the fifth to tie the game. Ben Maycock followed that with a bases loaded walk to give the Rapids their first lead of the game. With the win, Watertown moves to 12-6 on the season. This sets up a mid-season thriller of the top two teams on Tuesday night at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.

The Rapids host the Jamestown Jammers who hold a league best 14-3 record as of Sunday night. Watertown looks to end that trend as Jack Buckley gets the call on the mound Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
