RAPIDS REVEAL THEIR 2021 PGCBL SCHEDULE

WATERTOWN, NY -  The Watertown Rapids are sharing their vision for how the 2021 baseball season will unfold in the north country. The Rapids are entering their third season of play as members of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, a wood bat summer league. The Rapids game schedule was announced today starting play on June 3rd, 2021 and continuing through the end of July 2021 at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds in Watertown, NY.

The Rapids welcome a new division opponent in the Auburn Doubledays. Auburn joined the PGCBL this year along with the Batavia Muckdogs and Niagara Power following the restructuring of the MiLB. Along with Auburn, The Rapids will play division opponents Adirondack Trail Blazers, Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs, and the Utica Blue Sox. The interdivisional Newark Pilots will also make two appearances at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.

Currently, there is no structure for post-season playoffs but there is no confirmation that will remain the case. The Rapids have received constant consultation from New York State, Jefferson County, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the PGCBL’s epidemiologist regarding guidelines for fans returning to the Fairgrounds.

Rapids General Manager Nicholas  Czerow is positive for the future,”right now we understand we are trending towards having fans return Opening Day. We are learning how many we can welcome back and where our room for growth is. The more we do to protect our fans, the more room we have for larger crowds.”

The Rapids will continue to evolve with the guidelines throughout the year to ensure a safe return for all patrons.

Czerow continued “for fans returning to our games, for now we want them to expect to have to wear a face mask and socially distance from people not in their immediate group they entered the game with. Hand sanitizer will be made available in multiple places throughout the park and regular sanitization and wipe downs of concessions, bathrooms, and other locations will occur.”

“We are planning for Opening Day as if we can offer every seat in the facility as we do not have confirmation on what our allowance will be on June 3rd, 2021 yet.”

The Rapids new Head Coach / Field Manager Ben Moxley will lead his group into the 2021 season following the cancellation of the 2020 season due to COVID-19.
