Watertown, NY - Newly appointed Rapids’ Field Manager Mike Wood has found his Pitching Coach for the 2019 season in Sean Stacy. The Sugar Land, Texas native brings Division I pitching and coaching experience to Watertown.

Stacy is currently in his first season as Assistant Coach at Niagara University, members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Prior to coaching, Stacy began his collegiate playing career at NJCAA Division I Cisco College in Cisco, Texas. After two seasons, Stacy transferred to NCAA Division I University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), members of the Conference USA (CUSA).

In addition to earning a Master’s Degree in Business, Stacy was a baseball camp instructor at UTSA and coached for the Fort Bend Texans Sports Association.

Stacy looks to build on his career and lead a diverse staff of pitchers. When asked what he’s most looking forward to for the 2019 season, Stacy said, “I’m looking forward to getting to know and work with a group of players from different schools all around the country.”

Field Manager Mike Wood and the Rapids currently have pitchers signed from all three NCAA divisions and are actively recruiting more players to build their 2019 roster. Wood believes Stacy will be a strong addition to the Rapids for the 2019 season. Wood had this to say on why he chose Stacy as Pitching Coach, “Sean brings Division I baseball playing and coaching experience to the Rapids. We chose him for those reasons, as well as him being a rising, motivated, and young coach looking to lead our pitching staff.”

The 2019 season will begin on May 31st as the Rapids look to continue their success from their first season. In 2018, the Rapids won their first round playoff game at Mohawk Valley, before falling in the semifinals to Amsterdam.

The Rapids are members of the highly touted Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, playing their home games at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.
