Round One: August 1st - Rapids defeat Mohawk Valley 3-2

Round Two - Game 1: Watertown @ Amsterdam Mohawks - 8/2 - Rapids lose 7-5

Round Two - Game 2: Amsterdam @ Watertown - 8/3 - Rapids lose 12-4, eliminated from playoffs

The Watertown Rapids finally ended their losing skid by defeating the Newark Pilots by a score

Screen Shot 2018-07-08 at 9.24.42 PM.jpgof 12-6 Sunday night. Jack Buckley picked up the win for the Rapids pitching five shutout 

innings, allowing only two hits and tallying five strikeouts.

The Rapids bats came to life in innings five through eight where the team tallied eleven of their
twelve runs. Alex Mumme went four of five with two homeruns and four RBI’s, while teammate
Julian Kurych reached base all four at-bats including two hits. Allen Murphy ended the shutout
in the eighth inning with a three-run homerun. The Pilots again scored three in the ninth inning,
but it wasn’t enough to close the gap on Watertown.

With the win, the Rapids gained some confidence going into a crucial road stretch this week
before returning home July 16 th . Watertown travels to play Newark again tomorrow night as they
look to gain some ground and catch Mohawk Valley for the Central Division lead.
